- The POCTEP and Its Projects Have Received Several Awards Thanks to Participation in the Interreg Cooperation Day – Will You Join?
- If your POCTEP project plans to hold an event in September and you want to participate, please contact the POCTEP Joint Secretariat (JS).
Interreg Cooperation Day (formerly European Cooperation Day), held on 21 September, is an annual campaign celebrating the power of European cooperation across borders.
Every year, more than 80 Interreg programmes organise local events, with thousands of people taking part in cultural, recreational, and sporting activities across the continent. From bike rides to concerts and community gatherings, the campaign highlights the impact of EU-funded cooperation in strengthening regions.
Since its launch in 2012, the initiative has grown significantly, with over 1,490 events organised and reaching 47 million people. The goal is to showcase real results of collaboration through engaging activities that bring communities together. Interreg Cooperation Day is celebrated on 21 September and in the surrounding weeks, offering many opportunities for programmes to get involved!

In this context, the Interreg Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) encourages beneficiary organisations to join the initiative by organising awareness-raising activities that demonstrate the impact of projects on their territories.
POCTEP projects can take part in the Interreg Cooperation Day celebrations and, in fact, the Programme has a proven track record of success: in 2022, POCTEP was awarded the “Best Project Engagement” distinction thanks to project participation, and in 2023 the COOP_ACT project (Eurocidade Cerveira-Tomiño) received the award for the largest local event.
Online photography contests, open days, online events or exhibitions to share project results, school visits, media campaigns, musical performances, and symbolic tree-planting actions are some examples of activities organised by the Programme in previous editions.
If your project plans or could possibly organise an event in September or October this year, you can include it in the Interreg Cooperation Day celebrations.
