The European project FEENERT, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) 21-27 programme, has scheduled two important initiatives in Extremadura that will address, from complementary perspectives, traditional architecture, sustainability, and heritage conservation in the EUROACE Euro-region.
III Meeting on Traditional Architectures and Crafts: Climate Refuges
The Victoria Cultural Centre in Salorino, located in the Sierra de San Pedro (Cáceres), will host the III Meeting on Traditional Architectures and Crafts, focused this year on climate refuges. The event will bring together architects, artisans and specialists to analyse how vernacular construction techniques can offer contemporary solutions to current climate and energy challenges. The programme will include lectures, round-table discussions, and activities related to traditional crafts of the region.
“Innovation and Heritage: Architecture, Technology and Future” Day
Meanwhile, the Extremadura Library, located within the Alcazaba of Badajoz, will host the “Innovation and Heritage: Architecture, Technology and Future” event, organised by AGENEX as part of the European Heritage Days. The session will explore the application of new technologies to heritage rehabilitation, with expert presentations and a guided visit to observe in situ recent interventions in the Alcazaba itself.
A complementary programme
Both events form part of the activity schedule of FEENERT, Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings of Traditional Architecture in the EUROACE Cross-Border Area, a project that promotes the sustainable rehabilitation of traditional buildings in the cross-border territory. While the Salorino meeting focuses on traditional knowledge and materials, the Badajoz event will centre on innovation and intelligent heritage management.
