The Spain-Portugal Interreg Programme (POCTEP) 2021–2027 took part in the seminar «Europe closer to citizens under PO5: Taking stock and looking ahead», held on 2 and 3 July 2026 in Vienna. Organised by Interact, the event brought together Interreg programmes and other organisations involved in implementing Policy Objective 5 (PO5), which aims to bring Europe closer to its citizens through integrated territorial development strategies.
During the session, POCTEP had the opportunity to present its experience in implementing PO5, sharing the progress made and lessons learned in supporting territorial strategies that encourage the involvement of local stakeholders and address the specific needs of cooperation territories.
The programme’s contribution highlighted the importance of combining investments, support activities and close citizen involvement to achieve a lasting impact across the territories.
