• POCTEP and its projects have received several awards thanks to their participation in Interreg Cooperation Day — will you join?
  • If your POCTEP project plans to hold an event in September and you want to participate, contact the POCTEP Joint Secretariat (JS).

The Interreg Cooperation Day (formerly European Cooperation Day), held on September 21, is an annual campaign celebrating the power of European cooperation across borders. In this context, the Interreg Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) encourages beneficiary entities to join this initiative by organizing outreach activities that showcase the impact of projects in their territories.

If your project plans or can hold an event in September/October this year, you can frame it within Interreg Cooperation Day. Or simply, you can join the campaign on social media. Online photo contests, open days, online events or exhibitions showcasing results, school meetings, media actions, musical performances, or symbolic tree planting are some examples of activities carried out by the Programme in previous editions.

The POCTEP programme and projects have a successful track record in this initiative: in 2022, POCTEP was awarded thanks to the participation of projects, receiving the distinction “Best Project Engagement”; and in 2023, the COOP_ACT project (Eurocity Cerveira-Tomiño) was recognized with the award for the most attended event.

Across Europe

Every year, more than 80 Interreg programmes organize local events, and thousands of people participate in cultural, recreational, and sporting activities across the continent, organized by Interreg programmes. From bike rides to concerts and community gatherings, the campaign highlights the impact of EU-funded cooperation in strengthening regions.
Since its launch in 2012, the initiative has grown considerably, with over 1,490 events organized and reaching 47 million people. The aim is to show real results of collaboration through engaging activities that bring communities together. Interreg Cooperation Day is celebrated on September 21 and in the surrounding weeks, offering many opportunities for programmes to join!
