  • If your project is planning to hold events in September or October 2026, you can organize them as part of Interreg Cooperation Day.

 

Every year, Interreg programmes across Europe join forces to show the impact of cooperation. Through local events, they invite people to discover how Interreg projects help improve regions and communities.

Interreg Europe projects are invited to take part in this shared celebration. It is an opportunity to show how cooperation between regions leads to better policies and better solutions for people. Whether it is a small presentation, a workshop or a larger public event, these activities all have the same message: Europe works better when we work together.

In 2026, Interreg Cooperation Day will be organised for the fifteenth time under two themes:

  • Stronger together
  • 15 years of shared effort

Recognition and Awards

The POCTEP Programme and its projects have a strong track record of success in this initiative. In 2022, POCTEP received the “Best Project Engagement” award in recognition of the outstanding participation of its projects. In 2023, the COOP_ACT project (Cerveira–Tomiño Eurocity) received the award for the most attended event. Most recently, in 2025, the GREEN HOSPITALS project received the “Highest Publicity Reach” distinction after its event achieved the widest publicity reach across Europe.

 

 

When and how to get involved

Interreg Cooperation Day takes place every year on 21 September, with celebrations often stretching across the surrounding weeks. If that date doesn’t fit your calendar, don’t worry, events held at other points in the year are still very much part of the campaign, as long as they connect clearly to its spirit and purpose.

There is no single right way to participate. A small workshop in a border town counts just as much as a large festival in a capital city. What matters is that you show up, tell your story, and help citizens see cooperation in action.
