On 16 December 2025, the fifth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2021–2027 took place in Tui (Pontevedra). The meeting was chaired by Adrián Vecino, Deputy Director of the Directorate-General for European Funds of the Ministry of Finance, and co-chaired by Nuno Romão, Head of the Regional Policy Unit at the Agency for Development and Cohesion of Portugal.

During the meeting, key issues related to the management and progress of the Programme were addressed, including the status of project calls for the current 2021–2027 period, with 144 projects approved to date, the state of financial implementation, and visibility, transparency and communication actions. It was also agreed to postpone the mid-term evaluation of the programme until 2026, and the preparation of new calls for the coming year was discussed, including funding for small projects and remaining funds.

In addition, relevant information was presented on the closure of the 2014–2020 period, and the European Commission representative, Delia Bonsignore, Programme Manager at DG REGIO, outlined the main directions for the post-2027 period, highlighting the need to start strategic reflection work in 2026.

The session concluded with thanks to the Xunta de Galicia for its collaboration in organising the meeting and to all Committee members for their participation.
